In 1857 after the word come that Johnstone's Army was coming, the word to abandon went into effect. The people prayed, but prepared for the worst. The people carefully covered the foundation work on the temple site. It was left looking like a stretch of roughly plowed ground. Again the Saints prayers were answered. The army come but went 40 miles south to make a camp that was called Camp Floyd The army was peaceful and left in 1861 when the war back east broke out between the North and the South.
